BYSTANDER INTERVENTION/SAFER ARTISTIC SPACES

Content tailored to individual groups and goals.

Learn strategies for making your events and spaces safer and more welcoming. Use bystander intervention and harm reduction strategies to stop or identify harrassment before it happens or gets worse. Identify risks in your event plan and find strategies to make volunteers and staff more comfortable. My approach is centred on inclusion whenever possible; how can we all keep having a good time?

For theatre - an in-depth exploration of consent in rehearsal spaces, introduction to concepts of intimacy direction and coordination, boundary setting, and how to identify and navigate power dynamics in artistic spaces.

Can also be tailored to businesses, bars and restaurants and other types of clients.

Previous workshops delivered to organizations and events such as Yukon Pride 2023 and 2024, Yukon Theatre for Young People, Yukon Film Society, The Guild Hall Theatre, on site @ Bass Coast Festival 2023 and 2024.

Learn to speak with confidence and think on your feet.

A workshop for non-performers to learn to use basic improv skills to feel more confident speaking in front of groups. Learn tools to regulate your nervous system, communicate clearly and adapt to changing audiences and situations.

Previously delivered to organizations such as Yukon University.

DEVISING TECHNIQUES

Available as half or full day workshop.

Explore and learn techniques and strategies for making your own work.

Using research-focussed, documentary and verbatim approaches, discover ways of generating material drawing inspiration from your own personal, social, and political world. Exploring practical tools for devising, guiding principles for healthy creation processes and key elements of storytelling, participants will leave this workshop with tangible ways to approach making their own work.
